Makhana Kachumbar can be a great accompaniment to your biryani, pulao or any rice based dishes or to be eaten even as a salad on its own. Fully packed with healthy bacterias and calcium, it's great for your bones as well as soothing for your gut.

Time required: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

Makhana: 100 gms

Yogurt: 150 gms

Onion: 50 gms

Tomatoes: 50 gms

Cucumber: 50 gms

Coriander: 20 gms

Salt: to taste

Cumin/Jeera powder: 1 tsp

Black pepper: 1 tsp

Lemon juice: 10 ml

Procedure:

  1. Dry roast Makhana for  5-7 minutes or until crispy/golden brown.
  2. Chop all the vegetables and finely chop the coriander.
  3. In a big bowl add the yogurt and mix it well until it's creamy.
  4. Add all the spices and mix well.
  5. Add the vegetables & Makhana and mix well.
  6. Add Makhanas 5 minutes before serving for optimum taste.
  7. Serve at either room temperature or cold.
